About Us
Comprising both a School and a Company, Chattanooga Ballet is recognized as one of Tennessee’s leading dance education organizations.
Founded in 1973, the School principally focuses on the instruction and training of
dancers in classical ballet with offerings in ballet technique, pointe and variations,
supplemented with courses in creative movement, pre-
Begun in 1980, the Company is composed of professional dancers and advanced level students. The Company performs both classical and contemporary works and seeks to enhance the quality of dance in our region through the commissioning of new works in ballet, jazz, and modern dance idioms. The Company presents an annual production of The Nutcracker with the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera Orchestra, a choreographer’s concert, classical ballets, lecture demonstrations, and school performances.
The Chattanooga Ballet Children’s Company is the training company of the Chattanooga Ballet School. It is comprised of Intermediate I level dancers and above who have reached a higher level of technique and commitment. The Children’s Company is designed to give a few more hours per week to their dancing. Children’s Company members are featured in Chattanooga Ballet concerts as well as community service and collaborative performances with other local arts organizations.
Chattanooga Ballet is a 501(c )(3) not-
by the Tennessee Arts Commission, the National Endowment for the Arts, Allied
Arts of Greater Chattanooga, corporate grants and individual contributions.
